Samsung collaborates with NYP for smart F&B solutions
The partnership sees NYP’s teaching restaurants to be used as innovation test-beds
Samsung Electronics Singapore (Samsung) signed an MOU with Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) to collaborate on integrated smart solutions for the food and beverage (F&B) industry.
The signing, witnessed by Ng Cher Pong, CEO of SkillsFuture Singapore, marked a start to a partnership to accelerate F&B digitalisation and enhance dining experiences for technology integration, innovative solutions and manpower development.
As part of the thrust towards a smarter F&B industry, a hackathon is being organised to develop new F&B solutions and it will be led by NYP’s Asian Culinary Institute (ACI). ACI specialises in providing quality continuing education and training for professionals.
The hackathon will run from 24 October 2017 to July 2018. It will bring together not only NYP students but developers alongside industry professionals to come up with new innovations and technologies related to the industry. This is in line with Singapore’s target for half of all F&B outlets to adopt digital solutions by 2020.
Samsung will assist by bringing these ideas to life via usages of their devices, whether mobile, wearable or Knox solutions as well as providing technical expertise. It is also Samsung’s first introduction of its Samsung Knox tech certification programme for NYP students.
