The job cuts impact staff working on Quest virtual reality headset titles, including the VR fitness game Supernatural.

A Meta spokesperson said the changes aim to help Studios operate more efficiently as they develop future mixed reality experiences for a growing audience.

The company did not disclose the number of employees affected.

Reality Labs, which leads development and marketing for the Quest headset line, reported a USD 5 billion loss in the fourth quarter.

As of Dec. 31, 2024, Meta’s global headcount stood at 74,067.

Despite the losses, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg remains committed to Meta’s long-term vision for augmented and virtual reality technologies.
