Singapore's Keppel to Acquire AI-Ready Data Centre in Japan
Keppel to acquire AI-ready data centre in Tokyo from Mitsui Fudosan. Plans to increase data centre funds under management from US$6.84 billion to US$19 billion. Mitsui Fudosan to develop core and shell, Keppel to handle fit-out works.
This acquisition follows Keppel's recent declaration of intentions to significantly increase its data centre funds under management from $6.84 billion to S$19 billion to capitalise on the AI boom.
Mitsui Fudosan will handle the development of the data centre's core and shell, with Keppel's private fund taking charge of the fit-out works, as confirmed by the Singaporean company. Keppel is set to assume the role of facility manager upon the data centre's completion in 2027, contributing to its recurring income stream.
Christina Tan, Keppel's chief investment officer and CEO of fund management, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Mitsui Fudosan, aiming to enhance a robust pipeline of assets for the upcoming Keppel Data Centre Fund III. The company refrained from disclosing financial specifics of the deal citing confidentiality reasons in an email response to Reuters.
