Toyota Plans to Construct EV Battery Plant for Lexus Vehicles

Toyota plans to develop an EV battery facility in Fukuoka for Lexus vehicles. Kyushu will become a crucial node in Toyota's EV supply chain. By 2030, the annual sales target for EVs is 3.5 million, with considerable manufacture by the BEV Factory unit.

The manufacturer plans to make Kyushu a key component of its battery-powered vehicle supply chain and an Asian export hub.

A Toyota spokeswoman welcomed the claim, noting the company's efforts to increase its EV battery production capacity. The business intends to launch next-generation EVs globally in 2026, built by its EV-focused affiliate BEV Factory.

Toyota expects to sell 3.5 million EVs per year by 2030, with the BEV Factory business producing approximately half of those. Toyota sold 104,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in 2023. According to Nikkei, the exact investment amount for the battery factory and the start of construction date have yet to be determined.

Primearth EV Energy, a Toyota company that specialises in batteries for hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles, will operate the plant. Toyota's commitment to increasing its EV presence demonstrates its strategy move towards sustainable mobility solutions.
