In Latin America, Xiaomi shipped 6.2 million handsets last quarter, marking a 35% increase and securing the position of the second-largest smartphone brand in the region, as reported by Canalys. Samsung Electronics led the market with 10.2 million shipments, holding a 30% market share, while Xiaomi captured 19%. Other players like Motorola Mobility, Transsion, and Honor held shares of 17%, 9%, and 5%, respectively, in a market that grew by 20%.

Analyst Miguel Pérez noted that aggressive pricing strategies offering high-quality specifications at competitive prices have been instrumental in driving market growth. However, concerns about market saturation and global economic uncertainties could potentially impact smartphone demand in the region.

Xiaomi's success extended to Japan, where it surpassed competitors to become the third-largest vendor in the smartphone market last quarter. With a 6% market share and a remarkable 359% year-on-year increase in shipments, Xiaomi's growth was attributed to the popularity of its Xiaomi 14 Ultra model, launched in May, which received a positive reception from consumers and became the top-selling product on Rakuten's e-commerce platforms.

Despite Xiaomi's progress, Apple maintained its dominance in the Japanese market with a 56% market share, while Google experienced a 37% surge in sales, securing a 12% market share.

In India, Xiaomi reclaimed the top spot in the second-largest smartphone market globally, capturing an 18% market share with 6.7 million units shipped, according to Canalys' July report. This achievement comes after losing the leading position for six consecutive quarters.

The overseas advancements are crucial for Chinese smartphone manufacturers amidst fierce competition in the domestic market. Xiaomi increased its market share to 14% last quarter, up from 13% in the same period last year, positioning itself as the fifth-largest vendor in the world's largest smartphone market, trailing Vivo, Oppo, Honor, and Huawei.
